Mark Birnbaum - The creator of “rocking” hospitality venues

As tempting as the idea of starting a career in the nightlife and hospitality industry may seem; it is actually very demanding.

In order to start a successful venture, a lot of hard work and determination is required.

First of all, initially it requires a big financial investment. Then one has to make an intelligent choice in terms of selecting the location, as to where the club will be set up. The next thing is creativity and innovative ideas. All of this is needed, in order to make a particular restaurant or club a big hit.

The ambience and atmosphere of these establishments must be top of the line, because these are the places that people visit to have fun and have a leisurely time. Nightclubs help people forget their worries and stress, and instead have lots of fun with their friends. Therefore, there is no scope of compromising in terms of; quality ambience and environment.

City’s  throughout the world are crowded with nightclubs and entertainment venues, which is why it is crucial to have certain elements that make a club stand out and beat the competition. With that knowledge in mind, Mark Birnbaum came up with the best and most unique hospitality ideas, which have redefined this industry.

Every single club and restaurant, created by this New Yorker boasts of perfection and guarantees an enthralling experience to party lovers. He owns a strong venue portfolio that provides multiple experiences under one roof, with the promise to deliver quality food and excellent entertainment.

It takes a lot of hard work and efforts, dedication, time and vision to excel in an industry like this which is so dynamic. Mark Birnbaum is a personality who started off small, and is now regarded as the ‘king of New York’s nightlife’.

He founded the EMM group in the year 2006, and now he owns some of the most rocking venues like; The General, Catch Roof, La Cenita, Lexington Brass, The Social, Jazz Room, Finale and many others.

The strength of the EMM group

What is the best place to hang out at?

We always tend to know the answer to that question, at least as far as our own town is concerned, but do we really know why? Well, it always comes down to good food and great entertainment.

It’s not unusual for people to travel miles, just for that one serving of sushi, which they won’t find anywhere else, except at that particular restaurant or sports bar.

Keeping that in mind, imagine a chain of restaurants, nightclubs, hotels, and lounges all over the country, with hundreds of signature dishes, the best of ambience and to top it all off, first-rate entertainment.

Does such a chain deserve anything less than a golden medallion wrapped in red ribbons with a white fern on each side? Ok, this sounds a bit exaggerated, but really the EMM group, which was founded by Mark Birnbaum is just that good.

There’s always a star struck atmosphere at any of the EMM group venues. Because of the lineup of elite musicians performing and the keen emphasis laid on the entertainment of the in house guests, places like; Finale and Jazz Room are always buzzing.

In addition to great gourmet food and special entertainment, what makes Mark’s brainchild such a valuable entity in the world of hospitality is how it is well facilitated and well-functioning in all aspects of the entertainment industry.

The newly inspired Jazz Night was brought to guests by Mark Birnbaum. Those in attendance not only enjoyed the great music but the relaxed ambiance along with great food and drink. The new late night feature will be a continuous running show throughout the summer and into the coming months. Guests can also call 212-271-7101 to make reservations in advance. You can visit EMM's Facebook page to learn more about the Tuesday night gig or check out The General's website here

And in case you have any second guesses, here's what the New York Daily News had to say about The General - "Creative presentations stand out in both savory and sweet dishes, including a dessert of cake and sorbet molded into the shape of a coconut and brushed with chocolate.

Drinks such as the Diana Prince, made with Belvedere vodka, kiwi and lime, are carefully crafted and served from an oversize rectangular bar surrounded by high-top tables and comfortable banquettes, in an effort to make the cocktail experience just as special as the dining."

Mark Birnbaum Takes CATCH to South Beach

CATCH Miami
The second floor dining room at CATCH Miami
Mark Birnbaum takes CATCH concept to South Beach, Miami at the James Royal Palm

In early 2013, just about one year after opening CATCH Restaurant in Manhattan's Meatpacking District, Mark Birnbaum, partner of EMM Group recently helped open its first outpost of the popular eatery within The James Royal Palm on Collins Avenue in South Beach, Miami.

The globally influenced seafood restaurant, with Top Chef winner, Executive Chef Hung Huynh at the helm, has enjoyed rave reviews and full reservation books since opening its doors in early 2013, proving CATCH’s high energy, city-style of dining has found itself a natural fit among South Beach fans.

The nearly 4,000 square foot restaurant, fashioned between two floors and 190 seats, leaves much of the venue's landmarked, art-deco style interior intact. Upon arrival guests walk thru the 40 seat outdoor patio and into a 1,770 square foot First Floor Dining Room where the Main Bar sits in striking semblance to the hotel's original structure. Across the room a Sushi Lounge, with the capacity to accommodate up to 50 guests for seated dinner, adds an interactive element for a la carte diners or semi-private seatings.

Sprawling, 17 foot, cork-lined ceilings and a bustling South Beach dinner scene greet guests ascending to the Second Floor Dining Room. There, oversized copper drum lamps set an intimate stage, warmly washing patrons in CATCH's trademark honey-colored tones. Hand-painted details on the exposed brick walls create an ambiance like non-other, while Mark Birnbaum assures guests are able to enjoy all the essentials from the CATCH NY menu as well as newer, locally inspired dishes such as Po Little Rich Boys, The Shorecrest Roll, Kampachi Crudo and a conspicuously decadent Key Lime Donut dessert!

Abe & Arthur’s in particular has been getting a lot of attention lately for his powerful presence in the Meatpacking District.

Mark Birnbaum set the stage by creating a menu with high-end versions of classic American cuisine. He also incorporated the perfect ambiance by marrying familiar nightclub decor with a chic atmosphere. At Abe & Arthur’s you can expect impeccable service, delicious food and picture perfect clientele that doesn’t hurt to look at.
