Adding flavor to people's boring social lives is not such an easy thing to do. Not everyone can do this perfectly, but there is a man in the hospitality industry who has successfully accomplished this task; and that man is none other than Mr. Mark Birnbaum. 


He is a brilliant personality who is considered one of the most important assets of the nightlife industry, for having changed the old boring meatpacking district, into a happening area.

What is the best place to hang out at?

We always tend to know the answer to that question, at least as far as our own town is concerned, but do we really know why? Well, it always comes down to good food and great entertainment.

It’s not unusual for people to travel miles, just for that one serving of sushi, which they won’t find anywhere else, except at that particular restaurant or sports bar.

Keeping that in mind, imagine a chain of restaurants, nightclubs, hotels, and lounges all over the country, with hundreds of signature dishes, the best of ambience and to top it all off, first-rate entertainment.

Does such a chain deserve anything less than a golden medallion wrapped in red ribbons with a white fern on each side? Ok, this sounds a bit exaggerated, but really the EMM group, which was founded by Mark Birnbaum is just that good.

Mark Birnbaum - The man behind the thriving night-life in the Meatpacking District

Mark Birnbaum is an iconic personality in the hospitality industry. He is the driving force behind the flourishing nightlife in the Meatpacking District. After starting his career as an event manager, Mark went on to become one of the co-owners of the leading hospitality Management Company, the EMM group.


The group came into business in 2006. EMM Group Reinvents New York City Dining


Mark Birnbaum, owner of EMM Group, founded the hospitality company in 2006. Within 6 years he has opened several of New York City’s most prevalent nightclubs and restaurants. Lexington Brass, located at 517 Lexington Avenue, is one of the most popular bistros in New York City. Another radiating EMM Group restaurant is Abe & Arthur’s, also located in the Meatpacking District at 409 West 14th Street. Both menus take on familiar dishes that remind one of a home-cooked meal but with more sophisticated elements.

Lexington Brass has a wide variety of dishes, and with that comes menu favorites. The name Abe & Arthur’s came in-part from Mark Birnbaum’s grandfather. “Arthur is my grandfather, Abe is Michael’s grandfather. And the “S” in SL [the name of EMM Group’s nightclub located downstairs from the restaurant] stands for Eugene’s grandfather, Simyone” Birnbaum said. Happy Hour's at Mark Birnbaum's Restaurants

With Mother Nature giving us this great what feels like summer weather, we couldn't be more pleased to get our specials underway. Kicking off the season was happy hour at Lexington Brass. For a mere $30, we offered 2 glasses of sparkling wine or Beer and a dozen oysters. How can you beat a deal like that?


For those who don't know, Lexington Brass features top notch service and a simple menu of bistro favorites that will make you feel reminiscent of home. Unlike the blink-and-you-might-miss-it boites of lower Manhattan, Lexington Brass and its gleaming façade of floor-to-ceiling windows ushers in a new business backdrop where this generation of New York City minds and moguls break bread while breaking up the day, enjoying Lobster Mac n Cheese, Deviled Eggs, French Onion Soup, Braised Short Ribs and platters of oysters and littlenecks at any hour, from breakfast to lunch through dinner and late evening reprieves.
